1969 Northside G-Force- Series #6

This is an ongoing series of posts documenting my online baseball simulation team, the Northside G-Force, on their quest to win the 1969 GAPL Championship, along with the successes and struggles of my all-time favorite player, Bobby Murcer.

G-Force LogoThe 8-7 G-Force take on inter-division rival the 8-7 East Kenosha Lakers. GM Dave L. has challenged for the playoffs each of the last 3 seasons, but has yet to win a championship. His team is named in honor of his daughter Emily who died of cancer several years ago. EKL were her initials, thus the East Kenosha Lakers. For that alone he deserves a playoff spot each season.

GAME #1

The Lakers opened up a can of East Kenosha whoop ass. Rico Petrocelli hit a 2 run home run in the 1st, and topped himself in the 2nd with a 3 run shot. Phil Niekro tossed the complete game. Bobby Murcer went 0-4, and has nowhere to go but up.

GAME #2

Dave Leonhard tossed a nifty shutout allowing just 4 singles to the Lakers, and surprise, surprise, Bobby Murcer cracked a solo home run in the 4th inning that proved to be the game winner.

10-8 just 2 games out of 1st. I’ll take that. Free agent pick up 1st baseman Don Mincher has been a very pleasant surprise so far, with a .340 average, and 4 home runs. I’ll take that. Murcer is hitting just .140, but he did get 4 hits in the last 2 games. I guess I can take that.

Next up the always tough  11-7 Minnesota Muskies. Winning this series would really be a big boost for the G-Force.

  1. Separation in the standings between the really good teams and the bad teams seems to be occurring at a rapid pace this year. I suspect some teams will be throwing in the towel on the season long before Memorial Day.
