This is an ongoing series of posts documenting my online baseball simulation team, the Northside G-Force, on their quest to win the 1969 GAPL Championship, along with the successes and struggles of my all-time favorite player, Bobby Murcer.
The 10-11 G-Force take on the 10-11 Mayan Knights in a 3 game series.
GAME #1
18 innings, wow, what a game. Reggie Jackson hit a solo home run in the 6th inning to tie the game at 1-1, and then nobody scored again until the Knights’ Lee May bombed a solo home run into the leftfield stands, in the 13th inning. In the bottom of the inning Bobby Murcer smacked a clutch single to tie the game at 2. In the 18th inning Knights’ pitcher Dooley Womack was forced to bat with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd. He rolled a seeing eye base hit into right field scoring 2 runs. Reggie Smith came to bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 18th but flew out to end the ball game. A tough, tough loss for the good guys.

Another 2-1 win for the G-Force. Reggie Jackson grounded to 3rd baseman Richie Hebner with 1 out and Bob Didier on 3rd. Hebner’s throw home was not in time to nail Didier.

The G-Force have evened their record at 12-12 and face the beatable Brew City Barons next. Unfortunately both the Muskies and the Catfish are both hot and have extended their lead to 4 games.
Offensively the G-Force are really struggling. Their .232 team average is last in the league, and .28 points below the league average. That’s not going to do it. Bobby Murcer is hitting a little better. Since moving to the 5 slot in the line-up he’s increased his average from .093 to .179. He still has a long way to go.
Pitching is a different story. Their 3.48 team ERA is good for 4th in the league, and Moe Drabowsky has pitched well of late, and is close to getting off my shit list.
