1969 Northside G-Force-Series #11

This is an ongoing series of posts documenting my online baseball simulation team, the Northside G-Force, on their quest to win the 1969 GAPL Championship, along with the successes and struggles of my all-time favorite player, Bobby Murcer.

G-Force Logo

The 15-15 G-Force take on the 16-14 River City Rhinos for a 3 game series at Comiskey Park.

GAME #1

Denny McLain tosses a CG 5 hitter and improves his record to a perfect 7-0. I never was a fan of McLain and I am even less a fan now. Bobby Murcer’s sweet 4 game hitting streak comes to an end.

D mclain

Denny McLain is the last 30 game winner to spend time in prison.

GAME #3

This was a close one. Despite taking a 7-1 lead into the bottom of the 5th, the G-Force needed extra innings to pull this one out. Vada Pinson banged a 2 out 2 run double in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at 8-8. The double by Pinson completed a cycle which also included his 1st home run of the season and 2 triples.

v pinson

Pinson kind of rhymes with prison.

Winning 2 out of 3 is always is a good thing. My relievers are inconsistent, and Murcer went 1-11.  In the Diamond Mind game you can auto play an entire season in about 2 minutes. I just simmed the remainder of the season and Murcer actually ended up hitting .255 with 25 home runs. That’s a monstrous improvement over .178 and 2 home runs.  Oh, and he actually got injured running out a groundball. In the GAPL the injuries are usually reset after each series, but occasionally the Commissioner forgets to do this. Maybe I won’t remind the Commissioner, and let Murcer sit out the next 6 games, a little reminder of how much he’s hurting me right now.

Next up the 17-16 G-Force head back to Yankee Stadium for a 3 game series against the 15-18  Walford Wallabies.

  1. Pinson 5-5 with 5 RBI and a .377 batting average. Someone’s gotta be happy with that performance.

    • Kevin Graham says:

It doesn’t make me happy, this is suppossed to be about me being happy. That’s what counts….me….me…me.

I see the Dogs have the 2nd best record in the league. At least you’re happy.
