Mathewson Tosses Another Gem To Win Game #3

When Bristol Robotham Lord(The Human Eyeball) died at the age of 81 on 11/13/1964 he was the last surviving player from the 1905 World Series.

Christy Mathewson took a perfect game into the 5th inning before allowing a 1 out single to Socks Seybold. He lost his shutout bid in the 8th inning, when with 2 outs and nobody on, the A’s strung together 4 straight hits to score 3 runs. Mathewson regained his composure striking out the side in the 9th inning.

The Giants scored 2 unearned runs in the 1st off Andy Coakley, and that lead was never seriously threatened. Mike Donlin contributed 3 hits, giving him 7 hits for the Series.
