1915 World Series Revisited Phillies vs Red Sox

10/13/1925 @ Baker Bowl

Rube Foster vs Erskine Mayer

Deadball Era Slugfest Nets Red Sox A Win

Bert Niehoff managed the South Bend Blue Sox in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

A combined 16 runs scored in the 1st 3 innings gave the Red Sox an early 10-6 lead, and both starting pitchers an early shower. The relievers for both teams reeled in the offensive explosion, allowing just 3 more runs over the last 6 innings.

Harry Hooper of the Red Sox, and Beauty Bancroft of the Phillies each had 4 hits. 3 home runs were hit in this game, setting a World Series Revisited record. Jack Barry homered in the 3rd for the Red Sox. Phillies’ 2nd baseman Bert Niehoff banged a 2 run inside-the-park home run in in the 3rd(something I’d never seen before in 1000 games played with the DMB program.) And not to be outdone Ed Burns hit the very next pitch for a home run. The 1st back to back home runs hit in the World Series Revisited.

The Red Sox lead this series 3-2.
